Leonard Cohen Poet-In-Residence Program
The Leonard Cohen Poet-In-Residence Program at Westmount High School was started as a joint project of The Foundation for Public Poetry, Westmount High School, and Westmount High Alumni Association, with many friends and supporters. It was begun as a way to honour former Westmount High graduate Leonard Cohen on his 75th birthday(Sept. 21, 2009.)
Continuous fundraising projects are in process to ensure the best possible poets :
1. Will be given opportunity to receive payment for producing their personal work;
2. Will give the students of Westmount High an enhanced learning experience;
3. Will raise the profile of poetry in the community and help to promote the practice, appreciation and enjoyment of the art.
